Purr-fection Always!

Happy Friday! Are you ready for Challenge #20 at DeliciousDoodles? We have a spectacular one and perfect for this winter season. Our theme for this week’s challenge is “All You Need is LOVE,” just in time for Valentine’s Day too.

We want to see any kind of project, but it must have the theme of LOVE. We would LOVE to see you use some of Teri’s beautiful images, but it is not necessary. If you do use a Delicious Doodles image, you can enter twice and you will be spotlighted next week.

For my Delicious Doodles inspiration I colored on of my favorite DD images, “Just Purr-fect.” I am a cat lover and this beautiful image spoke to me.

My art card is very clean and simple, or very clean and simple for me. “Just Purr-fect” was colored with Copics and then layered on red and white cardstock. The designer paper is from my stash, as is my one flower and ribbon. My one die cut is a butterfly from Spellbinder’s Les Papillion’s, another favorite die.  I used a little Stickles on the flower and butterfly. See, I told you…”clean and simple.”

I would like to enter “Just Purr-fect” in the following challenges:
Crafter's Digital Art Center - Anything Goes
Whimsical Designs – All about Love
The Paper Shelter – Anything Goes
Digi Stamps 4 Joy – Anything Goes
Craft Us Crazy – Love or Are You Seeing the Color Red

I also wanted to take a moment to let you know that Teri has created some wonderful new Gothic papers, frame, and corners. This is a sample of the Gothic Papers, just gorgeous, if I say so myself.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you join us at Delicious Doodles for Challenge #20. After you enter, head on over to our Facebook group and our CDAC group, and show us your little piece of art.

New Marker Challenge at CBD

Happy Wednesday everyone! We have a brand new challenge for you over at Crafting by Designs. This challenge is for all you alcohol marker artists. You must use those markers somewhere on your project. I have also decided to give this one a theme of “Hearts.” It’s real close to Valentine’s Day, so why not.

Our sponsor for CBD’s alcohol marker challenge is none other than Rick St. Dennis MFA. I know that most of you have seen his images, and boy let me tell you, his illustrations run the gambit of eclectic, right up my alley. His prize for this challenge is two images, of the winner’s choice, from his Etsy Shop.
I decided to use one of his very “cute” images, “ValentineTurtle.” Isn’t he the cutest? He is on his way to see his little turtle girlfriend, and he is bringing his present with him. He’s also a lot of fun to color. My alcohol markers of choice are Copics, what else! All of my supplies are from my stash. The sentiment was designed by my very good friend, Cindy Echtinaw. The set is called Fancy Hearts.

Please come play with us at Crafting by Designs. I want to see something, from you, with hearts, but you must use alcohol markers. After you link up to our challenge, please hop on over to our Facebook group, Crafting by Designs. If you haven’t already, join and show us you little piece of art with hearts.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.  Have a great and creative week.

Meet Shantay from Rick’s Place

Happy New Year! I am so ready for it too. I am still trying to regain my strength back from all the Christmas festivities. It is slowly getting there. I must remember that I am getting older and I must learn to pace myself. That is harder than I thought it would be. LOL! Teaching this old dog a new trick every day!

I have stayed in my studio for two afternoons now and I told myself that today I was not going to leave until my project was complete. Well…I have finished it!

I would like to introduce you to “Shantay,” one of my favorites from Rick St. Dennis MFA line of “Randi Dandi” images. Isn’t she a beauty? I am rather partial to Rick’s Randi Dandi series. I love the big eyes and all that gorgeous hair on most of them. Randi Dandi’s are perfect for coloring.

For this art card I got to practice one of my New Year’s resolutions. That resolution is to use the designer paper pads that I have in stock before I purchase any others. Do you think that I will be able to keep it? You can bet your sweet booties that is a NOT! There are too many online enablers for me to resist that kind of temptation.

For “Shantay” I decided to color first and then look for the paper I wanted to use. The pad I found is one of the most beautiful that I have. I also forgot I had it. Now if I can use this rule every time I might make it. Another NOT! Like I tell my husband, after I die, you can sell my art supplies and retire. ;o) On to the nitty gritty…

Supplies I used for my project:
  • Copics: Hair-yr21, e13, 15, 18; Skin-e000, 11, R20; Scarf, hat brim, and eyes-g00, 85, 94; Hat, clothes, and earrings-w1, 3, 5, 7, 9; Orchid-r20, 22, 27, 89.
  • Ink: DI in Frayed Burlap.
  • Cardstock: SU Mellow Moss, Soft Suede, Early Espresso.
  • Designer Paper: DCWV Mariposa Stack (Hobby Lobby).
  • Dies: Spellbinders D’Lites Frame One; Cheery Lynn Designs Mini Flourish One.
  • Charm: Butterfly from Frost Creek Charms.

Shantay will be entering in the following challenges:
Crafty Creations – Anything goes
Flutter by Wednesdays – Anything goes with something new (my D-Lite die)
Divas by Design – Anything goes
Paper Take Weekly – Anything goes
Through the Craft Room Door – Anything Goes
