Sweet Pea Stamp's Button Fairy

A hot hello from Oklahoma to everyone in blog land!

This week my inspiration piece for Sweet Pea Stamps is Elaine Cox’s “Button Fairy.” I have had her in rubber for a few years now. You can find “Button Fairy” along with “Little Dreamer Mermaid” on Plate #78. My piece used the digi version. Isn’t she the cutest? I love those wings too.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, E11, R30
Clothes and Wings: BG11, BG72, BG75, G40, G82, G94, G99
Mushrooms and Hair: YR21, YR24, E99

My dies are Cheery Lynn’s Stacker Flower #1 Leaf and Heartfelt Creations Sun Kissed Fleur. I am getting a little better at my handmade flowers, but still need practice. I added a little Smooch Glitz Frost to the petals.

My designer papers are also from Heart Felt Creations SunKissed Collection. Everything has been distressed with Peacock Feathers and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Don’t forget to join in our One Sweet Challenge for July. Our theme is “Red, White, and Blue.” I hope you join us.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, just ask. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

You make me BLUSH!

Hi all! I hope that your week is going the way you want. So far mine is going great. I have been on the treadmill twice, and started BACK on Weight Watchers, so far so good.

Rick St. Dennis MFA has designed some of the cutest scarecrows for the upcoming fall season. AND, he still has them at a special BLOG price for the set of three (3) before they go to his Etsy shop.

I created a card with my favorite one, “You make me blush.” All three are adorable, but this one touched my heart.

Of course I colored with my Copics, and added some accents with a white gel pen. My sentiment is computer generated. I used Spellbinder’s Labels 20 on both and distressed the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  I took Labels 20 again and die cut with brown cardstock and offset the image and sentiment.

The designer paper is from My Mind’s Eye. My flower did not turn out the way I wanted, but it will do. It was cut with Spellbinder’s Rose Creation. I then cut the petals trying to make it look like a chrysanthemum. I am not going to give up on that kind of petals. Added a bow, and it’s complete.

The other two I have colored with my Copics, but no projects yet. That will happen over the next couple of weeks.

Meet “I love you dis much,” and

“It’s all about balance.”

I hope that you head over to Rick’s blog and check out what his other Elite Design Team members have created.  He has some very talented ladies. I know that I speak for all of them…”We love Rick’s images!”

That’s it for today. I need to eat some grapes. LOL If you have any questions, just ask.

Variations Week with Conie Fong at SPS

This week the Sweet Pea Design (SPS) is showing you different styles of art using Conie Fong’s “Mother with Baby Boy,” or “Mother with Baby Girl.” I chose “Mother with Baby Boy” in digital form. If you are a rubber stamp fanatic (I mean that in the good sense), Conie’s images are also available rubber.

I am dedicating this blog post to our amazing son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Bonnie, who are blessing us with another grandson sometime in November. This will be our third grandson and their first child. Congratulations you two! Maybe this one will be a U.S. President in 2047. No pressure though.  I am sure that you two will make perfect parents.

Here is my little piece of art using “Mother with Baby Boy.”

 Copics used:
Skin: E000, E11, BV000, R20
Hair: E50, E25, E29
Clothes & Blanket: E41, E42, E43, E44, E47,
and B91, B93, B95, B97

After I finished coloring the image I used Spellbinder’sclassic ovals to cut it out. I distressed a little and then added Distress Ink in Gathered Twigs and Chipped Sapphire. My background die, Spellbinder’s A2Filigree Delight, is gorgeous. I think this will be one of my favorites. Before I layered the image one, I distressed it with Viva Décor White 3-D Stamp Paint. I am loving this stuff. I just order a few of the metallic colors. I can’t wait to play. It really is easy to use and dries quickly.

Another touch was a Memory Box die, Amira Flourish, cut in-half. The designer paper, flowers, and pearls are all from my stash.

One Sweet Challenge’s challenge, sponsored by SPS, is still going on for July. The theme is “red, white, and blue.” Head on over to SPS Design Team’s blog, there is new inspiration posted each day.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, just ask.

Freebie Saturday with Rick St. Dennis MFA

Yep, you heard right. Rick has another freebie for you on the Sparkle and Glitter blog. There will be another contest too. The theme for this one is “anything goes,” but you have to use this freebie “Summer Fairy.”

This little cutie was a lot of fun to color. This time around I did find paper I wanted to use before I did my coloring. With Copics I had no trouble finding the colors to match.

Copics used:
E000, E11
R20, R43, R56, R59
BV000
G82, G85, G99
YG93, YG95, YG97, YG99

The huge flower was an experiment for me. Why I say experiment is me and making flowers do not meld together. But I will keep trying.  I used the Spellbinder’s die Sun Kissed Fleur (designed by Heartfelt Creations). What is so cool about this die is that all the flower sections are all in one die. You can cut the die one time and get all the sizes you need. After I cut them out I used some Creative Inspirations Tutu Pink paint, and then for every other layer added Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to help give it some depth and separate the layers of the finished flower.

My background dies are from Spellbinders, Octagon and Scallop Circles.  I distressed the edges of the scallop circle die with Worn Lipstick and Antique Linen. The leaves were cut from dies by Memory Box and Marianne Creatables.

The designer paper and brown pearls are from my stash. I think the paper is BasicGrey. Distressing was done with DI in Frayed Burlap. My ribbon and lace are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Now if you like the darker side of things, Rick has another freebie for you on our Airless Chambers blog. The same contest is going on too, but you must use the freebie from that blog.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Autumn Harvest at Sweet Pea Stamps

I hope that you all are having a very creative week. This is my first project for the week and I would like to introduce you to one of Ching Chou Kuik’s digis, Autumn Harvest. This beautiful image is also available in rubber. Search for Plate #57.

Autumn Harvest was colored with Copics and trimmed with Spellbinder’s A2 Curved Matting Basics B. For more depth I added Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap, Spiced Marmalade, and Seedless Preserves, to the border.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, E11, E13, R20
Hair: E50, E53, E43, E57, E49
Other:
BV20, BV23, BV25
G21, G24, G29
Y08, Y19
YR00, YR02, YR12, YR15, YR18
W0, W00, W1, W2
Colorless Blender

I added the butterfly as an afterthought.  Now that I am looking at it photographed, I think that I needed to add something darker to the edges. The butterfly was cut with Cheery Lynn’s Exotic Butterfly Small #2. I colored it with DI in Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves.

The backdrop for Autumn Harvest is Spellbinder’s Locking Loops, designed by Cindy Echtinaw. I love the Oriental feel of this die. The bling and flowers are from my stash.

Sweet Pea Stamps has some new Ching Chou Kuik’s digis. Don’t you need to go shopping? I know that I do. For artistic inspiration every day, check out Sweet Peas Design Team Blog.
