Are you ready for fall?

I think that we are all gearing up for it here in Oklahoma. We are suppose to get our first freeze this next week! Now we have to bring all our house plants back into the house! Oh joy!

We have a new challenge for you at Lacy Sunshine. The theme for the next two weeks is “Fall Colors.” If you are not ready for fall, you will be after you take a look at Heather’s design team inspiration projects.

I love the deep rich colors of fall, and I also love all things American Indian. For my project I picked “Maka Indian Maiden.” I colored her with Copics, and then added glitter pens for all the accents.

Copics used:
Skin: E00, 11, 13, R02
Hair: C00, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
Clothes & Shoes: E13, 15, 17, 18, 19
Fur: W0, 1, 3, 4
Feathers: E 25, 51, Spicas and Gel pens
Bow & Arrow: E51, 25, 29
Gel pens: Violet Wink of Stella, Red, Turquoise, Black Spica pens

I could not find any designer paper that did Maka justice, so I made my own. I used 90# coldpress watercolor paper, trimmed to size. Next came the experimenting phase with colors. I just purchased the new colors of Distress Paints, Dylusions, and some Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays. This was a lot of fun using these three mediums together. I will give you a list of the colors that I used. I did use my heat tool to dry between layers. The Distress Paints was the last layer, along with spritzed water.

Moonshadows in Peg Leg Pete’s Purple
Flat Fabios in Ruby Red Slipper, Oz’s Emerald City
Starbursts in Frostbitten Fuschia

Vibrant Turquoise, Squeezed Orange, Fresh Lime, Cherry Pie

Distressed Paints: (most of these were used on my leaves)
Crushed Olive, Dusty Concord, Frayed Burlap, Ripe Persimmon

The last touches were the leaves from Spellbinder’s Assorated Leaves die and my feathers. The brown feathers are pheasant from my Son-In-Law, and the turquoise feathers are from Michaels.

I hope you join us for the challenge, “Fall Colors.” If you use a Lacy Sunshine image, I hope that you share your little piece of art with us at our Lacy Sunshine Facebook group.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me. I hope you have a great and very creative week.
