Challenge #72 at Delicious Doodles

It’s Friday and time for another amazing challenge at Delicious Doodles. This week we want you to “use ribbon.” And you can interpret that however you want. Remember, if you use a Delicious Doodles image, you entry is counted twice. Why wouldn’t you want to use a Delicious Doodles image? What comes out of Teri’s imagination, you will be amazed. There is something for everyone’s taste.

I chose a very serene image for my art card. This image is “Quiet Contemplation.” I love everything Asian, and this one fist the bill. I colored her with my Copics. My background paper is also designed by Teri. It is “Swirly Heart Papers,” and I used the red version. You do get several colors with your purchase.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, R20
Hair: C00, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
Kimono and Flowers: R32, 35, 37, 39, 89
Sash & Head Band: V000, 09, 12, 15, 17
Parasol: YR23, 24, E99
Parasol Handle: E31, 33, 37

My cardstock is Stampin’ Up!’s Basic Black and Real Red. I used some black ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. It is one of my favorites in black. There’s an iridescence quality to the finish. For the last embellishment I added some pewter colored flat-backed pearls.

That’s it for today. I hope you join us for this Delicious Doodles Challenge. And, if you use a Delicious Doodles image, come share it over at our Delicious Doodles Facebook group.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Third Birthday Bash at StampNation

I hope this finds everyone well and being creative. It is StampNation’s 3rd Birthday Bash. It begins today and runs through Jan. 17. Each day there will be challenges and PRIZES, yes, you heard right, PRIZES from different sponsors. If you haven’t joined StampNation, this is the time to do it. The inspiration is never ending.

The challenge for Day One is to create something with a birthday icon. For my little piece of art I chose a digital image from LacySunshine, Cupcake Sticky Wings. What better birthday icon than a fairy sitting on top of a cupcake. I would take that any day.

Cupcake was colored with Copics with a little accenting from a clear Wink of Stella Brush Glitter Marker. After the coloring I trimmed her with Spellbinder’s Label One die. I cut another piece with the same die but in Stampin’ Up!’s Rich Razzelberry cardstock. I then layered Cupcake on top of this cut.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 11, R02
Icing, Wings, Baubles:
BG000, 02, 05, 07, 09
Eyes, Cupcake sleeve:
G40, 82, 94, 99
Hair, Dress, Wings:
RV91, 93, 95, 69
Ruffles, Socks, Cake:
Y21, 23, 26, 35
Background:

W00, 0, 1, 2, BG 02

My designer paper is Stampin’ Up!’s Petals and Paisleys collection. This was trimmed to size and distressed with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. My layering sandwich was more Rich Razzelberry and I added Old Olive cardstock.

For my embellishments I used some Spellbinder’s Die D-Lites Blooms One. My little sprigs are another D-Lites die Corner Sprigs. I found the ribbon in my stash (so glad I kept this), and tied the bow and added the Happy Birthday sentiment from Cindy Echtinaw’s new clear stamp set “Big & SmallSays it All.” I love all of Cindy’s stamps. The majority of her stamps are designed for Spellbinder’s dies. After the stamping, I cut Happy Birthday with the D-Lites die Petite Label One. I think I am going to be using the D-Lites dies a lot. That die cut was glued to my bow.

I hope that you do take a visit to StampNation and join us for our festivities. You won't want to miss it. Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Flowers Challenge at Delicious Doodles

We have a new challenge at Delicious Doodles and it’s all about flowers. That’s what our theme is this time around, “Flowers.” Teri has some beautiful floral digis (65 images to be exact) in her shop, Delicious Doodles. And for this challenge, and any of our other challenges, if you use a Delicious Doodles image your entry counts twice.

The one I chose to work with is Teri’s “Iris Flower.” I love Irises and I wish we had more in our backyard. Maybe that will happen this year. I think that I mentioned in one of my blogs that I have been coloring with a lot of blue. Well, my coloring is no different for this project. Maybe I am just ready for some blue skies in Oklahoma.

I colored Iris Flower with Copics. After all the blue coloring was complete I trimmed the image with Spellbinder’s Classic Large Square die. I cut with the largest die that is 3½” square. I added some Faded Jeans Distress Ink to the edges.  The next step was the layering, which I completed with Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock in Brilliant Blue and Brocade Blue.

Copics used:
Y32, 35, 38
G40, 82, 94, 99
B21, 24, 26, 29
Background
(I kept it very light):
W00, 0, 1, 2

To finish the card I decided on some designer paper from TimHoltz’s Vintage Shabby collection. I touched the edges of that with more Faded Jeans DI. This was layered with the blue cardstocks. Final touches were the yellow flat-backed pearls and a tied bow from some gold satin ribbon. The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I belong to their monthly ribbon club and I must say that I am not sorry that I signed up several years ago.

After you enter our Delicious Doodles Challenge, I hope that you come join our Delicious Doodles Facebook group and share your little piece of art.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Bluebell Sprite by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff

Spring is just around the corner. That’s what I keep telling myself. This country wide Arctic Blast needs to leave! I guess that's why I fell in love with this little sprite at Sweet Pea Stamps (SPS).

Today I have created a 5½” square card with the spring season in mind. I would like to introduce you to Mitzi Sato-Wiuff’s Bluebell Sprite. I have fallen in love with Mitzi’s sprites. They are so much fun to color, regardless of your medium of choice. SPS has them in rubber stamp format. Please check them out here.

Bluebell Sprite was first colored with Copics. After the coloring was complete I trimmed her with Spellbinder’s Labels 10 and distressed the edges and most of the back ground with Distress Ink in Faded Jeans and Dusty Concord. The cardstock, Night of Navy and Brocade Blue, is Stampin’ Up!, as is the designer paper from the Paisley Petals collection.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 11, R02
Petals: BV08, 11, 13, 17, and
V12, B32
Leaves: G40, 82, 94, 99

I am really getting into making my own flowers, but still need a lot of practice. These little charmers were cut with Spellbinder’s new Die D-Lites. Bottom layer is cut with Blooms One and painted with Moss Green Viva Décor 3-D Stamp Paint. Top layers were created with Blooms Four. For that added glitz I painted the Blloms Four with Orchid Liquid Pearls. For the finishing touches I added some White Opal Liquid Pearls to the center of the flowers and the scalloped edge of the Labels One die cut.

This little sprite would like to be entered in the following challenges:
Cards and More - Anything Goes
The Crafting Cafe - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart - Anything Goes, use pearls or buttons
Digi Sketch Challenge - Say it with Flowers

Our January challenge at One Sweet Challenge is up and running. The theme is “black and white.” This means no colors, just black and white, gray is acceptable. There’s another challenge out there, Sweet PeaStampers. Their theme is anything go. I know that there are plenty of Sweet Pea fans out there, so if you create a little piece of art using a SPS image, we would love for you to show us your little piece of art in our SPS Facebook group.

January 2014 Freebie with Rick

Happy New Year everyone! I am ready for this New Year and I hope that I can stay positive throughout this year. I have set goals for this year. So far, and four days into the New Year, things are going pretty good! See, positive reinforcement ;o)

It is time for Rick St. Dennis’s Newsletter Freebie contest. We took December off, but now Rick’s team is ready to get things going. If you receive his monthly newsletter you received this month’s free digital image, Baby Bacchus. Bacchus is one of my favorite mythological characters. What I like about him is his free spirit, “his wine, music, and dance frees his followers from all self-conscious fear and care.” I gleaned that from Wikipedia, and that was the toned-down version. LOL

You can find Baby Bacchus in Rick’s Zibbet shop. I have him colored and ready for a project. I am thinking an art journal page or a mixed-media canvas. Either one would be a great project for Bacchus.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 11, R02
Hair: E40, 41, 42, 43, 46
Flute, barrel, hooves:
E23, 25, 27, 31, 79
Grapes: V91, 95, 99
Leaves: G29, 40, 43, 46
Background: W0, 1,2, 3, V91

Just look at this face! Adorable!

For you that do receive Rick’s newsletter, the contest starts today at the Sparkle & Glitter blog. Enter your little piece of art on the page “January Freebie Challenge.”  If you want to enter this challenge and you do not receive Rick’s newsletter, take a visit to his Zibbet shop and pick up Bacchus. This helps show you support Handmade!

I know that you don’t want to miss next month’s newsletter. Why not sign up now? Just click here for all the information. If you are in the need of RSD inspiration, come join our RSD Facebook group. We would love to see your projects with Rick’s images.
