Delicious Doodles For the Love of Animals.

Hi all! I hope that you have had a productive and creative week. We have a new challenge waiting on you over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge blog. This week’s theme is “For the Love of Animals.”

We want to see what your interpretation is showing your love of animals. It is not a requirement to use a Delicious Doodles image, but if you do you can enter twice, doubling your chances of winning.

For my “for the love of animals” project I chose to color one of Teri’s newest images, Tropical Masquerade. This was so much fun to color with Copics. After the initial coloring, I added some gray Prismacolor pencil to the Cockatoo’s tail feathers along with a clear glitter gen pen.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Hair: C00, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
Cockatoo & Mask: W0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
Other Copics:
R20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 29, 89
V20, 22, 25, 28
BG70, 72, 75, 78
Y15 and YR15

My designer paper is Graphic 45 Couture Collection. The cardstock is Stampin’ Up’s Taken with Teal and Real Red. I have added some Spellbinder’s Feathers and added real feathers on top of those. The red bling is from my stash.

I hope that you join us for our current challenge, “for the love of animals.” If you use a Delicious Doodles image, (Why wouldn’t you?) come show us your little piece of art in our Delicious Doodles Facebook group. We would love to see it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Aurora Wings Butterfly Challenge

Welcome to our new challenge at Aurora Wings. This will be our 3rd and our theme is all about “Butterflies.” How easy is that? Mitzi has some amazing images in her Etsy shop that would fit this theme. Why not use one of her amazing images and have double your chances of winning? Aurora Wings challenges are anything goes with a theme. The other stipulation is that you must use a rubber stamp or digital image, and it must be colored. There are other guidelines that you can find on our Rules page.

My mixed-media piece was a labor of love for me. I think that I purchased Poppy Fairy/Butterfly Ears Elf digi when Creepy Glowbugg introduced me to Mitzi’s art. I say a labor of love, but I really did not feel like I labored at all. I love my Copics and I felt like this image deserved the best skills I could give it. I feel very satisfied with the outcome.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 4, 11, 21, and R20
Hair& Butterfly Ears: BG70, 72, 75, 78
(I added R20 to the tips of her ears)
Center of Poppies: Y08 and YR23
Poppy Buds: G40 82, 94, 99
Background: W00, R21, BG70, 72, and blender

I started this art work with an 8”x8” canvas board. I had some teal packing tissue paper that I kept, and I am glad that I did. I scrunched it several times. My next step was to use some DecoArt’s Decou-page on the canvas and smash down the scrunched tissue paper. I did not smooth it out or add a final sealer. I tried to keep as much texture as I could.

I die cut the main image with one of the Spellbinder’s Grand Circle dies. I used some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink around the edge. When that was dry I added some Illuminate Smooch Ink to the embossed edge. My next Spellbinder’s die is the Grand Stately Circles with Stampin' Up!'s Cool Caribbean cardstock. This is an intricate die so I recommend using wax paper between the cardstock and die. For my final embellishment are my Frost Creek Farms metal corners.

Poppy Fairy would like to enter the following challenges:
Crafting When We Can – Die Cuts
The Paper Players – CAS Florals
Dream Valley – Things with Wings

I hope you join us for our butterfly challenge. Do you need some more fun? Hop on over to Aurora Wings Facebook Group and join for some creative inspiration. Mitzi has a Facebook contest this month and that theme is “shades of blue.” You must use an Aurora Wings image for this contest.

I hope you have a wonderful and creative week. Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Variation’s Week at Sweet Pea Stamps

This past week at Sweet Pea’s Design Team blog was Variation Week. We all got to work with ching chou kuik’s Forest Blue stamp. You can find this beautiful stamp in digital format or as a rubber stamp.

I colored Forest Blue with Copics and accented with a white gel pen. She was then trimmed and distressed on the edges. I layered her on Stampin’ Up!’s Certainly Celery and Brilliant Blue cardstock. My background paper is from one of Flying Unicorn’s monthly kits. That designer paper was then distressed and layered on the same cardstock.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Hair: E50, 53, 55, 57
Clothes and Wings: B32, 34, 37, 39, and
G40, 82, 94, 99
Background: W00, 0, 1, 2, and B32

This beautiful image really did not need too many embellishments. My die cut is Spellbinder’s Foliage Flourish in SU’s Brilliant Blue cardstock. I accented the tips with a white gel pen. The last embellishments were the fan charms, fabric flowers, and some rhinestones, all from my stash.

Forest Blue will be joining these challenges:
Through the Craft Room Door – Anything Goes
Crafting at the Weekend – Anything Goes
Di’s Digi Designs – Use those Markers

Have you all stopped by our monthly One Sweet Challenge? Our theme for May is all about flowers. After you enter, come share your little piece of art in our Sweet Pea Facebook group’s bi-weekly contest.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

For a Special Lady at Dilly Beans

It’s almost the weekend and what better way to start your weekend than being creative. We have a new challenge at Dilly Beans Challenge Blog. Our theme for the next two weeks is “For a Special Lady.” To enter you must use a Dilly Beans Stamps image. Why wouldn’t you want to use a Dilly Bean’s image? Megan has the perfect digital images, be it funny, big eye art, or creepy.

For my image I chose “Daisy Girl Framed.” I have colored her with Copics and added little accenting with Pink Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Markers. I also used Clear Wink of Stella Giller markers on the yellow roses.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Hair: C1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 100 Black
Daisies: R81, 83, 85, 89
Roses: Y11, 15, 17, and E31, 33
Leaves: C40, 82, 94, 99

My designer paper is from Flying Unicorn (I love their kits!). The finished layers are Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock in Basic Black and Certain Celery. The butterly rub ons are Kaiser Kraft and the flowers are from my stash, as is the butterfly charm.

Angels Among Us

I hope that everyone has had a great weekend. I was able to find some time in my studio and finally created an art card. I love creating cards of all kinds, but mostly the ones that can be given as a gift.

The image that I used is designed by my very dear friend Cindy Echtinaw of Cindy Echtinaw Designs. I would like to introduce you to Lindsay Fancy Dress, one of the Angel Wings series. You can find her in digital format (which is what I used), or as a red rubber stamp at Angel Wings Rubber Stamps.

I colored Lindsay with Copics and added some clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Markers. Lindsay was fussy cut and layered on some pearl cardstock (from my stash) die cut with Spellbinder’s Labels 34. That die cut was distressed with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. After the ink was dry I layered again with the pearl cardstock die cut with Spellbinder’s Decorative Labels 34. The next to last layer is die cut from Stampin’ Up’s Pretty in Pink cardstock with Decorative Labels 34. The last layer is cut with the pearl cardstock and Labels 34. For this to be a simple design, I do have a lot of layers going on.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Dress: RV11, R81, 83, 85, 89
Hair: E31, 33, 35, 37, 39
Wings: C00, 0, 1, 2, 3, and RV11

The card base is more of the pearl and Pretty in Pink cardstock. The designer paper is BasicGrey’s Sweet Threads. I love this paper pad! I have used every piece at least once. It’s on sale at StampingScrapping! Don’t miss this great price. I distressed the edges and added Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. The last embellishments are corners from Spellbinder’s Lace Hearts and Flamingo Liquid Pearls.

Do you like cute Magnolia stamps? Cindy is having a 40% off Magnoliasale. These little Tilda’s are the 2012 and older stamps. Something else you do not want to miss.

Lindsay will be entering the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps – Things with Wings
The Craft Place – Anything Goes
Ditzi Digi Design – Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate contacting me.

Challenge Time at Delicious Doodles

It’s Friday and time for a new challenge at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog. Our theme this week is “white on white.” This was a fun challenge for me because it got me out of my box. After I thought about it for a while I realized that it will be simple to come up with a project. Teri’s images are so beautiful, and already have some much depth, that whichever image I chose would be amazing just to add a few gray touches.

The image that I chose is Snow Cuddles. Isn’t this the cutest image? I love that little Polar bear. I blended Copics with a blender to make them very soft. After coloring, I trimmed and layered her on several pieces of cardstock. I accented the fur and snowflakes with a clear glitter pen.

Copics used:
Clothes, cape, bear: C00, 1, 3, 5
Skin: W00, 0, 1, 2, 3

My base cardstock is Stampin’ Up!’s Shimmer White. I embossed some Virtual Pearl cardstock from my stash with Spellbinder’s M-Bossabilities Holiday Magic. My top and bottom border is cut from Memory Box’s Frosty Boarder. For the final touch I added some clear rhinestones on the snowflakes and on the border.

Snow Cuddles will be entered in the following challenges:
Delightful Challenges – Add Dimension
Crafting by Designs – Anything Goes
Inky Impressions – Anything Goes

I hope you join us for this “White on White” Delicious Doodles challenge. When you do and if you use a Delicious Doodles image, (Why wouldn’t you?), come share it with us in our Delicious Doodles Facebook group.

Thanks again for stopping by. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
