Sweet Pea’s Artist Week with Mitzi Sato-Wiuff

Hi to all visiting today. It was “Featured Artist Week” at the Sweet Pea Stamps Design Team blog last week. Yes, I am a little late in posting this, but I am giving it a go now. Our featured artist is Mitzi Sato-Wiuff. Sweet Pea Stamps has her images as rubber stamps. If you are an avid rubber stamper, Mitzi’s images will be right up your alley.

For my little project I decided to create with one of Mitzi’s sprites, Whimsical Hydrangea Sprite. I have colored her with Copics and added some highlights with glitter pens and a Sharpie White paint pen. My card base is black. The layered cardstock is Stampin’ Up!’s in Old Olive and Rich Razzelberry. My designer paper is from Heartfelt Creations Aster Collection,

After I fussy cut this darling sprite, I layered her on several die cuts. These die cuts are Spellbinder’s circles and a butterfly circle. All those little butterflies are the waste from the butterfly circle die. To add one more layer I die cut another circle fr.m the Old Olive cardstock and added that as my bottom layer. Finishing the card was completed by adding Cheery Lynn’s Lace Corner Deco A to each corner.

Sweet Pea Stamps Variation Week

This week is Variations Week at Sweet Pea Stamps. Our image is the beautiful “Easter Blessing” and it was designed by Katerina Koukiotis. You can find Easter Blessing in digital format or as a rubber stamp.

Easter Blessing was a joy to color with Copics. I have tried to go with a distressed look, but I still like my image and colors to pop.

After all the distressing was done, and my layers were assembled, I added some vintage cotton tatting from my stash. The flowers are from Petaloo and Prima. I’ve had the charm lying around for a while and decided it would be perfect for this card.

One Sweet Challenge Ringing in Spring

It's time for a new monthly challenge at Sweet Pea Stamp's One Sweet Challenge. It’s perfect to get you in the mood for spring. This month’s challenge and theme are “Ringing in Spring.” This might help take away some of the blues for the places that are still getting snow.

For my project I decided to use the rubber stamp Rose Fairy 2. This beautiful stamp was designed by Mitzi Sato-Wuiff for Sweet Pea Stamps. I hope that it speaks the colors of spring. I do want to apologize for my purples not matching. In “real life” all purples are perfect. This is my camera’s fault!

I have colored Rose Fairy with Copics, trimmed, then layered with Stampin’ Up!’s Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive cardstocks. I did get adventurous with this little piece of art. My designer paper is from my stash, I think it might be Kaiser Craft.

I decided to use a Sizzix die, 3-D flowers, to make my own roses. I got the inspiration from one of my Sweet Pea teammates, Milo. She has just the right touch with all of her embellishments and her “shabby chic” style. After rolling the roses, I added some DecoArt Gesso to the edges. They still needed some help so I added some flat-backed pearls to the centers. I also seem to collect a lot of laser cut shaped chipboard that I plan on using in some mixed-media work. My Eureka moment was “Why not use them on cards.” These pieces are from Blue Fern and FabScraps from Amazon.com. Before gluing down the pieces I added some Viva Décor Violet 3-D Stamp Paint.  I do like how everything turned out.

Waiting for You at Sweet Pea Stamps

Happy hump day! It is certainly feeling like fall here in Oklahoma. The past week has been rather dreary with a slow rain and some cool temperatures. The upside is at least we are getting some rain, and our trees have the most amazing color this year. I don't think I will ever get tired of looking at all of our fall foliage. The downside, I like sunshine! When we don't have sunshine, I color.

I would like to introduce you to one of Sweet Pea Stamp’s new artists, Helena Reis. Her designs are so much fun, and most of them look to have a little mischief in the making. Today I am sharing one of my favorite fairies from Ms. Reis Paper Dreams collection, “Waiting on You.” The format that I chose is in digital form, but you can also purchase all of her designs in rubber form.

“Waiting on You” looks a little forlorn, but she is also a very patient fairy. I knew that I wanted a winter theme, but not Christmas. I chose the mauve and green combo with the help of Heartfelt Creations Frosty Blanket designer paper collection. I colored her with Copics, and her wings were accented with Clear Starz Gelli Roll pen.

Stampin’ Up!’s cardstocks used in my art card are Bravo Burgundy and Always Artichoke. This magical fairy needed something other than the moon to sit on so I die cut a circle from Spellbinder's large classic circle with the burgundy cardstock.  I then die cut the circle again with white cardstock, but added to the center of the circle die one die from of Spellbinder’s Exquisite Circles from the Majestic Elements collection. Before placing that over the burgundy circle I added Viva Décor3-D Silver Stamp Paint.

For further embellishments (she didn’t need too many) I die cut some snowflakes from Spellbinder’s 2013 Snowflake Pendant. I used the silver 3-D paint on them also. For some last minute flourishes I added Cheery Lynn’s Fanciful Flourish in Always Artichoke. After everything was assembled I added some rhinestones to add a little more sparkle.

On the right side and between her wings, there is supposed to be the two tips of the moon with a strand of her hair. Toadstool Fascination by ching-chou kuik

Happy Wednesday! This project was a dream to create. I got to use some of my favorite dies and mediums for this art card.

The digi stamp, ToadstoolFascination, designed by ching-chou kuik, is available at Sweet Pea Stamps. I loved all the detail in this little stamp, the leaves, the birds, that hair (I love coloring hair), and of course the toadstools.  This beautiful image is also available in rubber stamp form. Whether you want the digi format or the rubber stamp format, SPS has the stamp for you.

I started out by coloring Toadstool Fascination with Copics, with a little highlighting with a white gel pen. I trimmed the image and mounted her on Stampin’ Up! Buckaroo Blue and Early Espresso. My designer paper is from my stash, but I do know that I made the purchase from Hobby Lobby. There's a lot of layers and dimension going on.

Autumn Harvest at Sweet Pea Stamps

I hope that you all are having a very creative week. This is my first project for the week and I would like to introduce you to one of Ching Chou Kuik’s digis, Autumn Harvest. This beautiful image is also available in rubber. Search for Plate #57.

Autumn Harvest was colored with Copics and trimmed with Spellbinder’s A2 Curved Matting Basics B. For more depth I added Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap, Spiced Marmalade, and Seedless Preserves, to the border.

Colorless Blender

I added the butterfly as an afterthought.  Now that I am looking at it photographed, I think that I needed to add something darker to the edges. The butterfly was cut with Cheery Lynn’s Exotic Butterfly Small #2. I colored it with DI in Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves.

The backdrop for Autumn Harvest is Spellbinder’s Locking Loops, designed by Cindy Echtinaw. I love the Oriental feel of this die. The bling and flowers are from my stash.

Olivia and Peter at Sweet Peas

Well…I am now one week late on posting this. I really forgot to post it on my personal blog. I am ashamed, because I have wanted to be on this amazing design team for Sweet Pea Stamps.  I made it, and I messed up.  I have had too many doctor appointments and I thought I was very organized in all the chaos. Chaos fooled me again.

It was my turn, one week ago, for a showcase piece at Sweet Pea Stamps. I would like for you to meet Olivia and Peter from Norma Burnell’sFairy Tangles Art Collection. I found Ms. Burnell’s art while I was surfing the web for Zentangle patterns. I fell in love with her style and I was hoping that a rubber stamp company would start the ball rolling on manufacturing the stamps. When I found out that it was Sweet Pea, I jumped for joy. 

I stamped Olivia and Peter with Memento ink on Cryogen cardstock for coloring with my Copics. After die cutting her with a die from Spellbinder’s A2 Curved Matting Basics A I distressed with Frayed Burlap.

The designer paper was a scrap. The other dies that I used were Spellbinder’s Bitty Blossoms and SCACD’s Alice’s Clock. This was distressed with white Viva Décor 3-D paint.

Don’t forget about our challenge at One Sweet Challenge. The theme is to use buttons and ribbons as embellishments. You can use any stamp you want, rubber or digi, but for the “larger” prize you must use an SPS image.

Here and Forever at SPS

Hi everyone! This is my first post as a Design Team Member for Sweet Pea Stamps (SPS). I am now among some of the best artists and designers for Sweet Pea. Thanks to you all for this wonderful opportunity.

For my first post I wanted to use a digi from ching chou kuik’s fantasy line. I think that I have most of her digis, so I have a lot of coloring to do! The one I chose is fairly recent and titled “Here and Forever.” If you are an avid rubber stamper, you can also purchase this stamp from SPS, Plate #247.

I colored her with my Copics and then added distress ink after I cut her out. Everything else is from my stash. My swirls were die cut and then distress ink added to make them pop a little better.

Sweet Pea Stamps Project No. 2

Happy Monday!

Below is my second project as a guest designer at Sweet Pea Stamps for August. This has been so much fun! Go check out the store. The Sweet Pea Stamps designers (one talented group of artists, if I say so myself) have their own blog, and In a Sweet Pea Dream is the challenge blog. Go check them out, some wonderful eye candy and prizes.

My project is Teresa Sherman’s Steampunk Fairy. I have never attempted to create anything with a Steampunk theme, but I must say I surprised myself, so muchso, that I plan on experimenting with Steampunk and a little Goth.

I colored her, not with Copics, but my PrismaColor pencils. Somehow she looked right for that feeling that these pencils create. For my background paper I used some Steampunk digital paper created by Teresa Sherman, artist of the Steampunk Fairy. Her online store, Delicious Doodles, has most of her images and several digital papers. The cardstock is all from Stampin’ Up. I found some of the most wonderful dies at Cheery Lynn Designs. This store may be old news to some of you, but it is so new to me. The die I used to try and get some more metal objects is the Italian Flourish Doily. I also used Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress Inks for the border around the image.
